Description Planning Template - Athletics Day
I saw Parents cheering their kid
s on to run. I can smell the fresh air coming to my face like it was an fane.I can taste the tasty sausage sizzle as the teams walked around the bike track.I could smell the fresh cut grass as we sat down to begin.I can taste the delicious food that families had brought for their children.
I heard the rumbling sound of cheering as teams battled for the number one spot.I heard parents cheering on their children like a crowd at an All Blacks game.I heard the soft soothing voice of Miss Kyla calling up the racers.I heard the sharp clap of the starting blocks like lighting in the sky.I heard the air whip past my face as kids sped past me like flash.I heard Miss Kyla speaking over the microphone like she was howling like a wolf.I heard Miss Kyla calling up the year levels peacefully.I heard the houses chanting loud like alarms were going off.
I felt nervous as Miss Aireen smashed the starting blocks together.I felt excited as I marched around the bike track, wondering what was to come.I felt disappointed when my house didn’t win.I felt proud that my house team TOBRUK won.I felt like I had won a million dollars when I crossed the finish line.I felt tired when I got into bed that night.I felt as hot as a frying egg when I was sitting in the sun.I felt the sweat dripping down my skin like a melting icecream cone.I felt my head going off like a volcano.I felt the smooth grass against my legs.I felt the sun was cooking people when they had no sunblock on.
faster.I saw teachers giving high highfives.I saw children running as fast as cheetahs.I saw a rainbow of colours cheering on the sideline and Bright colours shining in my eyes.I saw Miss Kyla standing on the field and playing lots of songs while the houses were dancing and I saw Miss Kyla start a dance party on the field as the music blared from the speakers.
I could taste the glory as I crossed the finish line.I could taste of the tangy sausage sizzle.I could taste butterflies in my stomach as I was getting ready to run.I could taste the sausage sizzle as people walked by and I could taste the burnt sausage as I took a bite.

Duffy Rolemodel Assembly
Today we had a Duffy role model assembly. Our role models were Nate and Lily. They where from the MAI FM show. Two key messages I learned were the more you read the more you get better at it, and from Nate, my key message was: as well playing games for 60 minutes, try and read for 60 minutes as well. I admired the way they both had and story to tell from the past and what they had to do to get there. It was a great Duffy assembly to end the day. :)

Adam's shark
Today we had Adam from Sommerville come and join us for Art! We were making shark art, after reading "The Great White Man-Eating Shark" by Margaret Mahy. Adam really enjoyed doing Art with us. He was going to stay for five minutes but he ended up staying for half an hour!
We loved having Adam with us. He is now part of or Room 9 family.
